China has become the world's largest producer of electrical lighting and exporting countries, but China's lighting industry output last year of about 160 billion yuan, and exports 10 billion US dollars, accounting for only 18% of the global market, rather than the development of a strong bottleneck. Today, the 4th China International Semiconductor Lighting Forum and Exhibition held in Shanghai. 
    Liu Yanhua, vice minister of Science and Technology in the opening speech that the semiconductor lighting is to achieve energy-saving reduction one of the important ways, building a strong scientific and technological support system, promote scientific and technological progress is to improve energy efficiency, reduce pollution emission levels of an important means of achieving emission reduction of energy saving the fundamental guarantee.Currently, many semiconductor lighting technology is not yet mature, technology development and large-scale production and market development requires multidisciplinary, multi-industry or community joint action. 
   Liu Yanhua, said that since the 1990s, the semiconductor lighting technology advances, LED (light-emitting diode) rich colors and digital control, will enable street, home, leisure venues become more colorful and personalized.  LED longevity, efficient society as a whole will greatly reduce electricity consumption, reduce pollution serious pressure; LED and solar lighting with Distributed energy supply will become possible, to the remote and poor areas bright. 
     To seize the high ground of semiconductor lighting emerging industries, to achieve leapfrog development, China's semiconductor lighting industry by the government, the scientific community and industry attaches great importance and concern.  Shanghai as a base for the industrialization of five approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of bases of national industry, has formed the Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park as the core, radiation Jiading, Songjiang, Yangpu, Putuo, Caohejing, regional semiconductor lighting industrial group. As of 2006, Shanghai has a 105 LED-related patents, and received a number of scientific and technological achievements awards, has also developed a number of optical industry 100 national standards, industry standards and internal standards.
